UTPA's Committment to Student-Athletes
|
The University of Texas-Pan American's Intercollegiate Athletics Department is committed to providing our student-athletes with informational sessions, seminars, and activities that will foster growth as balanced individuals. The UTPA Athletic Department feels strongly about preparing student-athletes for life after college.
This year's version of the Bronc Life Skills Program will focus on career development to assure that student-athletes are being kept well informed about majors, careers and the necessary skills required to be successful candidates in the job market. Through specialized seminars and workshops, student-athletes will be introduced to the skills and tools required for a successful career after graduation. The goal is to prepare student-athletes in becoming productive, marketable, and knowledgeable individuals who are well-prepared for the future and able to place themselves into a viable job market.
In order to establish a Bronc Life Skills program that is both educational and effective, the program has been developed so that the seminars are divided by class standing. The goal is to focus on traditional life skills and information gathering for freshmen and sophomores, while catering to the needs of upperclassmen through career development. The program is also starting a two year rotation of topics, to make sure that student-athletes are exposed to as many relevant topics as possible.
