Jan. 19, 2007 Scott Street, UTPA Director of Athletics, will be inducted into the Marshall University Sports Medicine Hall of Fame (SMHF) on February 16, 2007 on the Huntington, WV, campus. "It is very nice to be recognized by the people at Marshall for my contributions, and I feel very honored," said Street, who was informed on October 10, 2006 of his induction. "If you saw the movie "We are Marshall" that's the University that I was at so that actually was my first job after receiving my master's degree. I was there for two years, and they recognized me for my contributions during that time and for my work in the field in sports medicine after that." Street's involvement in athletic training began as an Assistant Trainer at Mankato State University (1985-86) where he earned his master's degree before serving as the Assistant Athletic Trainer at Marshall University (1986-88). Street was also a member of the athletic training staff at Wake Forest University for nine years, including serving as the Associate Head Athletic Trainer from 1994-97. The UTPA Director of Athletics was a member of the Executive Committee for the San Antonio Local Organizing Committee for five years and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Athletic Trainer's Association. He is also a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), College Athletic Business Managers Association and National Athletic Trainer's Association (NATA). The seventh annual banquet and presentation induction ceremony will take place on February 16, 2007 in Huntington, West Virginia at 7:30 p.m. The following day on February 17th, all inductees will be introduced on mid-court at the Marshall University versus Tulane basketball game. Street will be the 30th member to be inducted to the Marshall University Sports Medicine Hall of Fame. He will be joined by Dr. William S. Shields, Dr. Jack R. Steel, and Mr. John P. Messinger.
