Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine Jim Lancaster announced on Monday (August 11) that Jennifer Torgerson has been named the assistant athletic trainer for the Broncs and Lady Broncs.

"We are happy to hire a person with Jennifer's qualifications and experience," said Lancaster. "I believe Jennifer's background over the last five years working at the college level can bring a wealth of knowledge and freshness to our Athletic Training program," Lancaster added.

"I look forward to being a part of The University of Texas-Pan American family and having the opportunity to work with both the Broncs and Lady Bronc athletes," said Torgerson. "I feel I will learn quite a bit working with Jim (Lancaster) and become a better athletic trainer."

Prior to joining UTPA, Torgerson served as the assistant athletic trainer at Jacksonville State University (JSU). At JSU she was responsible and traveled with men's & women's basketball, volleyball and baseball. Torgerson assisted with football, softball track and soccer. Torgerson, a member of the National Trainer's Association (NATA) worked on the Board of Certification, assisting in the testing for the national certification of trainers.

Torgerson graduated from Pepperdine University in 1999 with a major in Psychology and a minor in sports medicine. She earned a master's degree in Human Movement & Performance with emphasis in Sports Psychology in 2001 from Western Washington University.
