The University of Texas-Pan American Women's Athletic Fundraiser (WAF) will be hosting the Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler...Let the Good Time's Roll! fundraiser on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the UTPA Wellness and Recreation Sports Complex located on the corner of Sugar and Schunior in Edinburg.

This year's fundraiser will have a Mardi Gras theme. Tickets for the event are on sale for $40 and attendees are encouraged to dust off their Mardi Gras mask and get their beads ready. The event will include a buffet of Cajun food, casino tables, lively music, assorted beverages and plenty of dancing.

"We are very excited to be planning the seventh annual WAF and are looking forward to a 'Lucky Seven' event. More importantly, our guests will be able to enjoy Cajun food and dancing fit to our theme - Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler with many chances for shopping at our auctions," said Dr. Susan Griffith, Executive Director of the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness.

The Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler is one of a series of events hosted by WAF in conjunction with The University of Texas-Pan American Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Student-athletes, coaches and administration invite the community to promote a healthy community by joining efforts in Walking for a Healthy Body and Mind.

The walk-a-thon will be held the morning of Oct. 11 at the UTPA track and soccer field on campus and will begin at 8:30 a.m. There is a $5 registration fee which includes a free t-shirt. Individuals who turn in a minimum of $50 in pledges will receive a complimentary ticket to the Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler.

All proceeds of the seventh annual Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler fundraiser will benefit the women's athletic programs at The University of Texas-Pan American. For tickets and more information, contact (956) 381-2383 or (956) 381-2221.
