Abe Lemons held the program's all-time record in career winning percentage with a .775, while never recording a losing season during his career at Pan American. In his 34 seasons coaching at Pan American, Lemons finished with a 29-6 career record at the UTPA Fieldhouse and an overall record of 599-343. Lemons also coached at The University of Texas where he helped them win two Southwest Conference Championships and guided the Longhorns to the 1978 NIT Championship. He also led Oklahoma City to seven appearances in the NCAA Tournament in the 50s and was honored by the Jim Thorpe Association with the Abe Lemons Award - given to an individual on the Jim Thorpe Executive Council who demonstrates great dedication to Oklahoma and goals of the Jim Thorpe Association - also is someone you can count on to be there when you need them.
