In his one season at Vermont, McCarthy posted a .313 batting average during his rookie season, while recording eight homeruns and 30 RBIs...named to the America East Conference All-Rookie Team...was a member of the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod League...McCarthy comes to UTPA to continue his baseball career.

Lyman Hall High School
McCarthy was a four-year letterman in baseball and soccer and also earned three letters in basketball...he was a standout for the Lyman Hall baseball program as he was named All-League, All-State, captain of the squad, and a scholar athlete...also a soccer and basketball standout with captain (basketball and soccer) and All-League (soccer) honors under his belt...holds the homerun, RBI, and slugging percentage school record.

McCarthy is the son of Joseph and Carol McCarthy, and Debbie McCarthy...born on June 25, 1989...has one brother - Donald and four sisters - Allie, Jaime, Brittany, and Krista...father (Joseph) played baseball at Marshall...sister (Brittany) played soccer at Western Connecticut State.
