The University of Texas-Pan American baseball team dropped game-two 11-2 of a three day series to the University of New Orleans on Saturday afternoon at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium.

With the setback, the Broncs dropped 9-19 on the season while the Privateers improved to 19-9 overall.

Offensively the Broncs were led by Andrew Perez who finished the game a perfect 3-for-3 to go with two doubles and an RBI.

Matt Shepherd reccorded the loss for the Broncs as the UTPA senior allowed nine runs- seven earned on nine hits in 3.1 innings of action. The senior dropped his overall record to 2-2 on the 2008 campaign.

After a scoreless first inning, the Privateers quickly found their stroke connecting on six runs on six hits. Josh Vander Hey led the inning off with a single to left, advanced to second on a single by Jeff Lanning and scored on a Tyrone Wether's single.

UNO continued their hitting rally in the inning plating five runs including a triple down the left field line by T.J. Baxter, making the score 6-0.

The Privateers produced a run in the third inning when Shepherd game up a solo homerun to Lanning, to make the score 7-0.

UTPA recorded a run in the seventh on three hits when Chris Lozano led the inning with a walk and pitch runner J. C. Cortez later scored on a Perez single to right field, to cut the deficit 11-1.

With the score 11-1 in favor of the Privateers, the Broncs had a final chance to make a comeback in the bottom of the ninth but came up short, only plating one run, to end the game with a 11-2 loss.

The Privateers were led by Joey Butler who went 3-for-6 to go with two RBI's and two runs scored while Baxter finished the game 1-for-3 with four RBI's and two runs scored.

The Broncs will play their final game of a three-game series with UNO tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Edinburg Baseball Stadium.
