Abraham Garcia, Tim Tefft and Bonham Hough were all named to the 2009 NCAA Division I Independent Baseball All-Academic Team as announced this past week.
"These men serve as a great example for their teammates and athletic program. After a hard fought baseball season, I want to acknowledge Tim, Abraham and Bonham for a tremendous job in the classroom," said Academic Counselor Andres Cantu. "Maintaining a high GPA is difficult enough when dealing with traveling and upper level courses and I am extremely proud of their hard work and dedication."
Garcia, a three-time recipient, earned the honors after finishing the 2008-09 academic campaign with a 3.43 grade point average in kinesiology. Garcia finished the 2009 baseball season with a .368 batting average, 67 hits, 6 homeruns, 33 RBI and 38 runs.
A two-time recipient, Tim Tefft first earned the honors in his first season with the Broncs during the 2007-08 academic campaign. Tefft concluded his senior campaign with a 3.86 GPA in psychology. Tefft served double-duties with the Broncs as he served as an outfielder in the beginning of the season and ended his senior season as a pitcher with 44 and two-third innings of work.
