Broncs Fall to Vanderbilt, 90-54, on the Road

Feb. 7, 2005

Box Score

Vanderbilt center Dawid Przbyszewski shot a perfect 6-6 from behind the three-point line en route to scoring a game-high 18 points as the Commodores (14-9) hammered UT - Pan American (11-12), 90-54, in Nashville, TN, on Monday (Feb. 7).

The Commodores, who recorded their 23rd straight non-conference home winning streak, opened up the game by scoring on their first seven possessions and built the lead to 19-4 with only four minutes expired in the first half. During that stretch, Vanderbilt connected on five three-pointers and finished 10-16 from behind the arc in the game's initial 20 minutes. The Commodores went into intermission with a 48-22 lead.

The second half was just as ugly for the Broncs as Vanderbilt had total control of the contest and increased its lead to as many as 40 points at 85-45 with 4:20 remaining in the game. The Commodores cruised to a 90-54 triumph, which was the largest margin of victory in Kevin Stallings' six years as head coach.

For the game, the Commodores shot 60.0 percent (36-60), including 56.0 percent (14-25) from behind the three-point line. Vanderbilt doubled the Broncs in points in the paint by a 44-22 margin and held a 32-26 advantage in the rebound category. UTPA only connected on 39.6 percent (19-48) of its shots, including 4-18 (22.2 percent) from behind the three-point arc.

Alvaidas Gedminas (Plunge, Lithuania/Kirtland Community College) scored a team-high 12 points, hitting 8-13 free throws, while grabbing a game-high eight boards. Sergio Sanchez (San Antonio, TX/Temple College) and Ryan Lange (Inwood, IA/Northeast Community College) each scored eight points a piece while Matt Berry (Tulsa, OK/Indiana State University) added seven points.

Along with Przbyszewski, Vanderbilt also had four other players reach double figures. Corey Smith and Mario Moore each racked up 12 points a piece while Shan Foster scored 11 points and Julian Terrell added 10 points.

The Broncs will be back in action on February 17th at Birmingham - Southern College. Game time for that contest will be 7:00 p.m.
