The University of Texas-Pan American men's basketball team dropped its tenth straight game with a 66-38 setback to the University of Arkansas at the Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville, AR, on Friday (Dec. 30).
The game started slow and sluggish for both squads as the Broncs and Razorbacks combined for 31 first half points with Arkansas taking a 19-12 lead into intermission. Neither team shot above 30 percent in the first half.
In the second half, the Razorbacks were able to get back a little of their shooting touch as they broke up the game midway through the half en route to cruising to a 66-38 victory.
For the Razorbacks, Johnathon Mordica finished with a game-high 14 points to go along with eight rebounds, and Sean McCurdy collected 10 points in the winner's cause. Darian Townes finished with eight points and 12 rebounds in 18 minutes of action.
Derrick East (Binger, OK/Lookeba-Sickles H.S.) collected 13 points and six rebounds to lead the Broncs while Cori Gaither (Jacksonville, FL/Southwestern C.C.) added seven points.
Arkansas improved its record to 10-2 on the season while the Broncs fell to 2-12.
The Broncs will be back in action on January 7th, 2006, when the University of Tulsa will visit the UTPA Fieldhouse. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
