The University of Texas-Pan American men's basketball team was back in action Saturday night against North Carolina Central where the Broncs scored a buzzer winning basket to make the final score 67-66.

"(I'm) very proud that we came back and we won," third-year head coach Tom Schuberth said. "We never quit and we hung in there, we could have easily laid down and lost the game, we gave ourselves a chance and then we got a break at the end and we won."

Five Broncs finished the game in double digits. Nathan Hawkins scored 11 points and had one assist. Emmanuel Jones finished the match with 13 points to go along with his 10 rebounds. Jared Maree and Nick Weiermiller finished the match with 13 and 10 points respectively.

Senior Julius Allgood finished the match with 14 points and seven rebounds. The Marion, AL native went 6-7 from the paint and 2-2 from the free through line.

"Julius (Allgood) gave us a great ball game," Schuberth said. "He just gave us a lot of energy and that's what we needed to get over the hump."

The Broncs are back in action Monday (Feb. 23) against NJIT at the UTPA Fieldhouse with tip off scheduled for 7 p.m.

"We want to try to string out three in row," Schuberth said. "Then go on the road and sneak a couple and get 11 wins. For a young team I think we're making some strides."

Go Broncs!
