UTPA Men's Basketball Adds Fourth Signee

May 14, 2005

University of Texas-Pan American head men's basketball coach Robert Davenport announced on Sunday (May 14) that Johnathan Chatman (Chicago, IL/Sheridan College) has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Broncs in the fall of 2005.

"Johnathan is a combo-guard who can play both the one and two," said Davenport. "He can shoot, take it to the basket and has good vision so he is obviously going to add more depth and versatility to our team. We keep getting good kids, good students and good athletes, and we know that good things are going to come from it."

A product of Sheridan College in Sheridan, WY, Chatman averaged 14.0 points and 3.0 assists per game, which ranked him second for the Generals. He earned second team All-Region IX honors in his final season.

The newly-signed Bronc earned first team All-Red South Conference honors as a senior at Simeon Career Academy where he averaged 14.0 points per game. The Wolverines won the conference championship during his sophomore campaign.

Chatman is the son of James Chatman and Sheri Carr.
