The University of Texas-Pan American men and women's golf program will head to Houston, Texas as they compete in the Great West Conference Championships this Monday (April 20) and Tuesday (April 21) hosted by Houston Baptist.
"Both the men and women have been working hard since our last outing. In our last tournaments, it wasn't what we expected, so they have that taste of wanting to win in their mouths," said Director of Men and Women's Golf Ofelia Lopez.
The men's golf team is coming off a 13th place finish at the ASU Red Wolf Classic while the women off a 17th place finish at the UALR Women's Golf Classic.
The women are the only ones to have faced a Great West opponent this season as they faced Houston Baptist in their opening spring tournament at the Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate. The Lady Broncs went on to defeat the Lady Huskies.
"This will also be a great preparation for minority for both teams. Anything is possible; it's in their hands and abilities. If they start from hole one playing golf clubs to the wall, we will get the job done," added Lopez.
