The University of Texas - Pan American men's golf team will be heading to Monkey Island, OK to compete in the Shangri La Shootout hosted by Oral Roberts University on Oct. 24-25.
It has been over a month since the Broncs last took part in the Fairway Club Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, NE, placing 10th out of 13 teams.
The team has been working hard over the last month, logging hours upon hours on the course improving and fine-tuning their game.
In their first tournament, the Broncs were led by freshman Shane Pearce (Carollton, TX/Hebron H.S.) who shot a three-round total of 227, good for a 24th-place tie in his first collegiate tournament. Craig Berger (Wetaskiwin, Alberta, Canada/Wetaskiwin Composite H.S.) finished tied for 34th place after shooting 231 for the tournament.
Sophomore Kyle Tudi (Phoenix, AZ/Chaparral H.S.) finished just one stroke behind teammate Berger, shooting 233 and placing 39th. Colin Norris (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/Cochrane H.S.) finished 49th with a score of 237 while newcomer Blake Hughey (Plano, TX/Plano West H.S.) placed 68th with a score of 260.
The Broncs tee-off on Monday (Oct. 24) and will conclude the tournament on Tuesday (Oct. 25) in Monkey Island, OK.
