Silke Buksik begins her first season as the graduate assistant with The University of Texas-Pan American men's and women's tennis program.
Buksik was a four-year member of the UTPA women's tennis program; she will aid first-year head men's and women's tennis coach in on-court coaching and off-court responsibilities.
During her senior year, the UTPA graduate assistant was ranked second on the Lady Broncs with a 9-9 record in both the number-four and -five spots in the lineup. Buksik recorded an 11-4 record in doubles' action with teammate Megan Bedeau as they competed in both the number-two and -three spots of the lineup and Buksik set a career-high in both singles' and doubles' victories this past season for the Lady Broncs and led the Lady Broncs in doubles' victories as well as total victories in her last season.
Buksik was selected to the National Independent All-Tournament Team after finishing with a 1-2 record in the number-two singles' flight. Buksik finished with a team-high in victories in doubles' competition for the Lady Broncs. Buksik was also selected to the ITA All-American Scholar-Athlete Team for her efforts in the classroom.
She was the number-one singles' player her rookie season for the Lady Broncs as the UTPA newcomer finished with a 2-7 record. She was on the Dean's List Second Honors in both semesters en route to accepting an invitation to the UTPA Athletic Director's Honor Roll and was a Bronc Pride 3.0 Club member in both semesters.
Buksik is the daughter of Hans and Naike Buksik and has one brother, Niels. She majored in international business management and is now working towards her masters' degree. Buksik currently resides in Edinburg.
