EDINBURG, Texas - University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) senior Nirvick Mohinta has been named the Southland Conference men's tennis player of the week.

Mohinta clinched the match win for the Broncs from the No. 6 singles spot with his third set super tiebreaker win over A&M-Corpus Christi's Nathan Robinson.

The Calcutta, West Bengal, India native was partnered up with Ashwin Vijayaragavan as the duo captured their seventh doubles win, improving to 7-5 for the season.

"That was a great win from Nirv last week. He and Ashwin played some outstanding doubles to clinch the doubles point. I cannot say enough about how he managed the highs and lows of his singles match to clinch the win for us. There was a lot of pressure there and he came through strong. I think this is well deserved," head coach Chris Taylor said.

The Broncs will hit the court again March 20 when they travel to Thibodaux, Louisiana to take on Southland Conference opponent Nicholls State.
