The University of Texas-Pan American men's tennis program dropped a 5-2 road decision to the Mavericks of Texas-Arlington this past Sunday (March 28) at the UTA Tennis Center in Arlington, Texas.

UTPA struggled in doubles play as they dropped close 8-5, 8-7 and 9-7 decisions to the Mavericks.

The Broncs picked up two points in singles play as Aswin Vijayaragavan defeated Mindaugas Celedinas 6-1, 6-3 in number-one singles while Andrew Irving defeated Brieuc Hamon 7-5, 7-5 in the number-three spot of the rotation.

The men's team dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision in number-two and -four singles as Dmitry Minkin defeated Nirvick Mohinta and David Subirats defeated Brett Bernstein.

In a third set super tiebreaker, Beau Bernstein suffered a 6-1, 2-6, 6-1 setback to Adam Srkala in the number-five spot of the rotation, while Marcus Dornauf lost 7-6, 6-2 to Gonzalo Bienzobas.

The loss puts the Broncs at 4-11, 3-2 SLC for the season.

The Broncs will return to the Orville Cox Tennis Center this Tuesday (March 31) as they play host to Laredo Community College with start time scheduled for 2:00 p.m. CT.
