The University of Texas-Pan American men's tennis program finished their regular season play with a 4-3 victory over Southland Conference-foe Lamar University this past Saturday (April 11) in Beaumont, TX to place them as the second seed in the Southland Conference Tournament.

The victory over Lamar improves the Broncs record to 5-12 on the season and 4-2 in conference play, the program's best record since the 2003 campaign.

The Broncs drew a quick point in doubles as they defeated Lamar in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Partnered for the first time, Aswin Vijayaragavan and Marcus Dornauf defeated Maciej Bogusz and Richard Filkuka 8-1. In an 8-5 victory, Nirvick Mohinta and Beau Bernstein defeated Marton Horvath and Dusan Savkovic.

The Broncs and Cardinals split singles as the Broncs picked up three wins in the No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 spots of the rotation.

Vijayaragavan picked up another win against Bogusz as he defeated him 6-2, 6-3. Sophomore Marcus Dornauf defeated Filkuka in a third set super tiebreaker with a score of 6-7 (4-7), 6-0, 6-3, while newcomer Abdelhamid Riani defeated Savkovic 7-5, 6-4.

The Broncs will next prepare for the Southland Conference Tournament on April 24-26 hosted by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at the HEB Tennis Courts. The Broncs are scheduled to face the winner of the No. 3 and No. 6 seed match.
