Aug. 15, 2008

The University of Texas-Pan American men's & women's tennis head coach Rob Hubbard announced the signing of Reetta Raty (Tammisaari, Finland/Ebenas Upper Secondary School) to join the Lady Broncs beginning in the 2008-09 season.

"Reetta brings an all court game to UT Pan American in that she strikes the ball well off both sides and will take control of the net at the right times," said Hubbard. "She should be an excellent addition to both our singles and doubles starting line-up. I believe Reetta is going to have a very strong collegiate tennis career here at UT Pan American and I look forward to being a part of it."

In 2007 she was ranked 15th nationally in the juniors and was in the top 80 in the nation in the women's open division.

Raty, a native of Tammisaari, Finland, joins the UTPA women's program that finished the 2007-08 campaign with the best all-time single season record of 17-8 and with Hubbard selected as the Independent Coach of the Year.
