Broncs Pumped up for Roadrunner Invitational this Weekend

Oct. 6, 2009

"We are ready for this weekend"
Assistant Coach Silke Buksik

The University of Texas-Pan American Bronc tennis team has their eyes set to capture more wins this weekend at the UTSA Invitational hosted by The University of Texas-San Antonio. The men will be playing Friday (October 9) and Saturday (October 10).

Last year at the UTSA Invite senior Brett Bernstein collected the Blue Singles Consolation after overpowering Pier Pieraccini 6-2, 7-5. Bernstein not only found victory in singles play, but when paired with younger brother, Beau Bernstein, the two were not to be reckoned with as they soared through the consolation bracket capturing a second-place finish.

In the orange singles draw a year ago Beau Bernstein and Marcus Dornauf were defeated in the consolation semi-finals, while in doubles Aswin Vijayaragavan and Nirvick Mohinta flew through the draw but came up short in the semi-finals as they were defeated 9-7 by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

"We are ready for this weekend", said graduate assistant coach Silke Buksik "We have a lot of confidence going to the UTSA Invitational and looking for wins after our sweep last weekend against Laredo."

The tournament will start Friday (October 9) at 9 a.m. at the Roadrunner stadium at UTSA.
