The University of Texas-Pan American men's tennis programs hits the road for their first tournament of the season in San Antonio, Texas for the UTSA Invitational this Friday (Oct. 10) at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The men's tennis team brings back a trio of juniors and sophomores and one senior and freshman a piece.
The men will look for leadership in Southland Conference recognized Aswin Vijayaragavan and Marcus Dornauf. The Broncs finished their 2007-08 campaign with a 8-11 overall record and a 2-5 conference record.
The UTSA Invitational will play host to six teams from Laredo Community College, St. Edward's, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Tyler Junior College, UTSA and UTPA.
Doubles action will take place first with two flights and singles action with two flights as well. The Bernstein brothers will compete in the second flight against TAMUCC. Dornauf and Shashank Vij will face Tyler J.C. in the fifth flight with Vijayaragavan and Nirvick Mohinta competing in the final flight against St. Edward's.
Singles action will have a blue and orange draw. In the blue draw, Nirvick Mohinta will play in the second flight against TAMUCC, Vijayaragavan in the third flight against TJC and Brett Bernstein in the sixth flight against UTSA. In the orange draw, Vij will compete in the first flight against Laredo Community College, Dornauf in the third flight against TAMUCC and Beau Bernstein in the seventh flight against TJC.
Two rounds of play will take place each day in the two-day event. Doubles action will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed by singles at 10:00 a.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center.
