The University of Texas-Pan American men and women's tennis program wrapped up the UTPA Invite with the men taking doubles' action this Sunday (Oct. 26) afternoon at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
Doubles' action started Sunday's play with the men earning the point in doubles with two wins from Aswin Vijayaragavan and Nirvick Mohinta defeating Villarreal/Campos 8-2 and Brett Bernstein and Marcus Dornauf defeating Meza/de Mucha 9-8.
Andrew Irving and Beau Bernstein dropped their match 8-1 against De la Pena/Fernandez.
In the women's doubles' play, Stephanie Willerding and Luisa Cantu came back for day two to gain the win against Montemayor/Bravo 8-6.
Megan Bedeau and Malin Anderson lost their doubles' match 8-1 against Trevino/De la Pena, while teammates Sarah Burton and Reetta Raty lost their match as well against Madrazo/Canepa 8-3.
In the men's singles green flight, Vijayaragavan notched a win against De Mucha 6-1, 6-0 and teammate Brett Bernstein collected a win against De la Pena with a score of 7-5, 6-4. Dornauf was the Bronc to lose his match in the green flight with a score of 7-6, 6-2 against Meza.
For the women's singles green flight, Willerding dropped her match 7-5,6-4 to Madrazo while teammate Megan Bedeau dropped her match, as well, to Trevino 6-1, 6-1; and Cantu dropping her match to De la Pena 6-1, 6-3.
In the men's singles orange flight, Mohinta recorded a win against Monterrey Tech's Fernandez 6-3, 6-3, while teammates Beau Bernstein and Shashank Vij both dropped their matches with Bernstein losing to Campos 6-3, 6-3 and Vij dropping his match 6-4, 6-2 to Villarreal.
Malin Anderson started things off for the women's single orange flight with a victory against Bravo 6-2, 6-2. Sarah Burton was defeated by Canepa 6-2, 6-2 and teammate Reetta Raty was defeated by Montemayor 6-2, 6-2.
The men and women's tennis program will have a week off before heading to San Marcos, Texas for the Texas State Play Day on Nov. 8.
