2009 Season
Indoor - In his second season with the Broncs, Barrera competed in four meets during the indoor season...posted his best finish in the weight throw at conference with a third-place performance with a throw of 52-10...recorded a 41-9.75 in the shot put, for a career best, at the Great West Indoor Championships...Outdoor - collected 12 top-10 finishes, including a first-place finish in the discus at the UTEP Invitational with a toss of 143-5.6 (43.73m)...competed in six meets during the outdoor season...finished second in the discus and hammer throw at the Cactus Cup with throws of 137-1 and 147-9, respectively...threw a career best 157-1.4 in the hammer throw at the UTEP Invitational...placed seventh at conference in the shot put with a throw of 42-8.5 (13.02m), for another career best...placed fifth in the hammer throw at the Texas Twilight with a throw of 147-10 (45.06m)...earned Bronc Pride 3.0 honors during the fall.

2008 Season
Indoor - Competed in two meets during the indoor season...finished 11th in the weight throw at the Houston Indoor Invitational with a throw of 47-5.25...at the Bayou Classic, finished 13th in the weight throw with a throw of 44-9.75...Outdoor - recorded 15 top-10 finishes in the outdoor season... had his best finish in the shot put with a seventh-place finish at the Texas Twilight with a toss of 40-8...finished sixth in the discus with a toss of 136-6 at the Javelina Invitational...in his first two meets, finished with all top-10 finishes...recorded his best throw in the hammer throw at the Texas Twilight with a throw of 146-0...finished fourth in the hammer throw at the Javelina Invitational with a throw of 139-1...earned Bronc Pride 3.0 Club honors.

McAllen High School
Barrera was a three-year letterman in track and field and a two-year letterman in football for the McHi Bulldogs...earned Honorable Mention accolades twice in football...finished third at regionals in track and was a state alternate.

Barrera is the son of Oscar and Leticia Barrera...has one brother - Victor...has one sister - Krystha...born on February 5, 1989...major undecided.
