Cross Country - Hernandez competed in a pair of meets in his first cross country season with the Broncs.

Northwood (TX) University
In his first collegiate season, Hernandez was a part of the Northwood (TX) University cross country and track and field programs.

High School
Hernandez was one of the top distance runners in the Rio Grande Valley during his high school career where he captured a trio of District 31-5A championships for PSJA North High School... was selected as one of the best runners in the Rio Grande Valley and earned Most Valuable Performer honors for the Raiders on three occasions... earned All-State laurels during his senior season... was part of a PSJA North High School cross country team that finished third overall at the Texas Cross Country State Championships during his senior season... earned four letters in cross country... was coached by former UTPA distance runner Herman Figureoa... was a member of the Student Council and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Off the Track
Hernandez is the son of Jose and Thelma Cantu... has two brothers - J.J. and James - and one sister - Perla... brother, J.J., is a sophomore on the UTPA cross country and track and field program... born on Dec. 21, 1985... majoring in marketing.
