2008 Season
Indoor- Finished 18th in the one-mile race at the Houston Indoor Invitational with a time of 4:46.79...crossed the finish line in 16th at the Bayou Classic in 4:53.61...Outdoor- Grabbed a fifth-place finish at the Javelina Invitational in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:33.71...at the Border Olympics, Ruiz finished ninth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:51.83...at the Texas State Open, Ruiz finished 14th in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:38.68.

2007 Season
Cross Country- Ruiz finished 19th at both the Texas A&M-CC Relays and the National Independent Championships...at the TAMUCC Relays, Ruiz finished with a time of 45:34.00 and at the National Independent Championships with a time of 27:21.86...Outdoor - In his first season in a Bronc uniform, Ruiz recorded his best finish of the outdoor track and field season at the Tom Tellez Invitational with a time of 2:14.48 in the 800-meter race... finished 12th overall at the Bobcat Open with a time of 2:11.56 in the 800-meter dash... Indoor - Ruiz competed in three meets during the indoor track and field season... earned 19th place laurels at the Leonard Hilton Memorial in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 17:27.28...finished 33rd overall with a time of 4:54.30 in the one-mile race at the University of Houston Invitational.

High School
A product of La Joya High School, Ruiz earned eight letters - four in cross country and four in track and field.

Off the Track Ruiz is the son of Vidal and Gladis Ruiz... has two brothers - Luis and Miguel - and one sister - Jessica... was born on Feb. 18, 1988... majoring in accounting.
