The University of Texas-Pan American men's track and field program will be heading off to Boston, MA for the USA Indoor Championships held at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center on Saturday (Feb. 23)
The men's track and field program will be taking two-time UTPA All-American Will Littleton to compete in the high jump.
"I think Will will do fine this weekend. It's a world-class meet and only the best compete at this meet and he's made the qualifying mark to be there. He's got the confidence it takes to be there and compete," said head men and women's track and field coach Dennis Darling.
Littleton holds the all-time record in the high jump with a jump of 7-5.25 which he recorded in the 2007 outdoor season. The All-American will be coming off a second place finish at the Bayou Classic with a jump of 7-0.50.
Assistant coach Funmi Jimoh will also be competing in the long jump unattached. Jimoh has competed in the last three indoor meets that the men and women have competed in.
"Funmi will do great. She's been consistent in all her jumps. In this meet, everyone is on the same level; it just all depends who is having a better day," added Darling.
The USA Indoor Championships is a two-day event with men's high jump competing on Saturday (Feb. 23) at 2:00 p.m. and women's long jump at 1:45 p.m.
