The University of Texas-Pan American men and women's track and field program will be heading back to Houston, Texas once again for the Houston Invitational hosted by the University of Houston this Friday and Saturday, May 2-3.
"This meet should be a good meet. It's a tough time right now it being finals but we're taking a full team to compete in Houston," said head men and women's track and field coach Dennis Darling.
With regionals right around the corner, the itch for qualifying is stronger than ever.
"Anyone can qualify at this point. Vanessa and Ashlon can qualify in any event and so can any of the distance guys. Everyone needs to go out and give it their all and PR if they can," added Darling.
The Houston Invitational will take place at the Carl Lewis/Tom Tellez International Track and Field Complex on the campus of the University of Houston. The two-day meet will begin Friday with only the javelin, pole vault and shot put. Saturday will mark the start of the running events at 11:00 a.m. and field events on Saturday will begin early at 9:00 a.m. with the hammer throw.
