With the outdoor season coming to an end, the men and women's track and field program prepare for the Great West Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Houston, Texas as Houston Baptist will play host at the Rice Track Stadium.

The GWC Outdoor Track and Field Championships will be a three-day event with final events in the men and women's hammer throw and 10,000-meter run taking place on Thursday. Prelims will take place on Friday with finals on Saturday.

Field events will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday and at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday with running events beginning at 5:20 p.m. on Friday and 5:50 p.m. on Saturday.

Senior Amanda Ferris will look to capture the outdoor title in the shot put and/or hammer throw as she currently leads the Great West in both events. Junior Cecilia Lott and senior Liliana Cavazos each hold the GW record in the long and triple jump, respectively.

On the men's side, Jameson Strachan and Wally Gonzalez each look to hold another Great West title as Strachan earned the 400-meter dash title with a time of 49.96 and Gonzalez the 800-meter run title with a time of 1:55.13.

Senior J.J. Hernandez will also look to notch a title of his own in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as he holds the top spot in the Great West Performance List.
