Four members of the men and women's track and field program will head to Norman, OK as they each earned berths to the NCAA Mid-West Regional this Friday and Saturday (May 29-30), which will be hosted by The University of Oklahoma at John Jacobs Field.

Three of the four qualifiers hail from the Rio Grande Valley in Wally Gonzalez, J.J. Hernandez and Stephanie Perez.

Gonzalez will represent UTPA in the 800-meter run as he qualified with a time of 1:51.91, Hernandez in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:03.92) and Stephanie Perez in the discus (50.84 meters).

San Antonio, Texas-native Amanda Ferris will also represent UTPA in the hammer throw (54.94 meters) and shot put (14.53 meters).

The women's hammer and discus along with prelims for the 800-meter run will take place on Friday. The shot put and finals for the 800 and 3,000-meter steeplechase will take place on Saturday with the conclusion of the meet.
