Senior J.J. Hernandez represented The University of Texas-Pan American men's track and field program after placing 16th in the 3,000-meter steeplechase this Saturday (May 30) afternoon at the NCAA Mid-West Regional at John Jacobs Field in Norman, OK.

Hernandez was originally scheduled to compete in the second flight but was moved up to the first flight after two athletes scratched from the race. The San Juan, Texas native registered a time of 9:21.63 for a 16th place overall finish.

Senior Amanda Ferris was scheduled to compete in the shot put but dropped from competition after a nagging pain in her foot kept her from competition.

The NCAA Mid-West Regional concludes the Broncs and Lady Broncs 2009 track and field campaign.
