Littleton Set to Compete in the 2008 Olympic Trials

June 25, 2008

Three-time All-American - Will Littleton (Cuero, TX/Angelo State University) will travel to Eugene, OR where he will compete against some of the best athletes from around the world at the 2008 Olympic Trials beginning Friday (June 27).

"This is a great experience for Will to compete at the 2008 Olympic trials," said head men's and women's track and field coach Dennis Darling. "Will is a very talented jumper and I think he has a very good chance of making the top three. I think he will make a name for himself if he stays focused."

The high jump competition will begin with the qualifying round on Thursday (July 3) at 7:25 p.m. followed by the finals on Saturday (July 5) at 12:55 p.m.

Littleton will match-up against the 2006 NCAA champion and two-time World Championship team member Jesse Williams. Williams ended the year ranked eighth in the world and number one in the U.S. with a personal best of 2.33m/7-7.75.

Littleton enters the 2008 Olympic Trials with the seventh best jump in the U.S. with a height of 7-5.34.

Coverage of the high jump qualifying round will be available on USA and the final round will switch to NBC. Both channels are available on Time Warner Cable Television and Satellite TV in the Rio Grande Valley.
