Westly Keating

Nov. 18, 2009

SAN ANTONIO, TX--Westly Keating, a three-time NCAA Division I All-American and former UTPA Track & Field athlete and assistant coach, won The Rock `n' Roll San Antonio Half Marathon in a dramatic photo-finish on Sunday (Nov. 15).

Both Keating and Songok finished the race with the exact same time, 1:05:24, however the photo finish proved that Keating crossed the tape ahead of Songok, with Songok just behind the right shoulder of Keating.

The two runners had broken away from the pack early and at the eight-mile mark their lead was more than a minute ahead of the closest competitor. Keating finished ahead of the Men's U.S, 50-kilometer record holder, Josh Cox, one of the pre-race favorites, who crossed the finish line at 1:06:44.
