Outdoor - During the 2005 campaign, Gandara achieved personal-best times in the 3000, 5000 and 10,000-meter events... finished seventh in the 3000 meters at the Texas Invitational, ending in 9:48.28... was second in the 3000 meters at the UTPA Angela Proctor Classic... recorded a time of 14:52.21 in the 5,000 meters at the Rice Bayou Classic, crossing the finish line fourth... ran in the 10,000 meters at the Stanford Invitational, finishing with a time of 30:59.28, giving him the fifth-fastest time in this event in program history.

2004
Cross Country - Gandara exploded onto the scene in his first season with the Broncs' cross country team... selected as the 2004 Independent Cross Country Runner of the Year... earned first team All-Independent honors... led from start to finish before capturing the individual Independent Championship at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, recording a 5K time of 25:38... won the Texas State Invitational in his debut race with the Broncs, finishing the 8K race in 27:01... was the first Bronc to cross the finish line in every race he competed in this season... was fourth overall at the Islander Splash with a time of 26:22 in the five-mile race... finished 13th out of 185 runners at the Auburn Invitational where his time was 25:38.65 during the 8K race... earned Independent Runner of the Week honors following his performance at the Auburn Invitational, which was voted by the cross country head coaches of Independent institutions... suffered an injury prior to the NCAA Division I South Central Regional Championships, but still managed to be the Broncs' top performer at that meet... finished 50th out of 127 runners with a time of 32:29 in the 10K race... Outdoor - Gandara placed third at the Border Olympics, finishing with a time of 15:41.73 in the 5000 meters... Indoor - The UTPA junior concluded his first indoor season by recording two top three finishes... claimed the Houston / RunSport All-Comers title in the 5000, recording a time of 15:26.73... was third at the Houston Indoor Invitational, crossing the finish line in 15:45.81... Classroom - Gandara was a member of the Bronc Pride 3.0 Club and earned Dean's List Second Honors during the spring semester.

Pratt Community College - In his two seasons at Pratt Community College, Gandara was an eight-time NJCAA All-American... holds the program records for the 1500M, 3000M, 5000M and 10,000M events... finished third at the NJCAA Track and Field National Championships as a freshman and sophomore in the 10,000M... placed fourth at the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships during his sophomore season after finishing fifth the previous season.

High School - A product of Mission High School, Gandara was a four-time district champion... finished third in the cross country regional meet during his senior season... earned team MVP honors on two occasions along with Rookie of the Year laurels... garnered six letters for the Eagles - three in cross country and three in track and field.

Off the Track - Gandara is the son of Rita Alaniz... has one brother - Andy - and three sisters - Esmer, Eva and Mary... was born on Oct. 11, 1982... majoring in kinesiology with a minor in Spanish.
