Indoor - Vela competed in three total meets of the indoor season...ran a season's best 1:59.82 in the 800-meter run at the Bayou Classic...collected two top-10 finishes...placed fifth in the one-mile run at the Bayou Classic with a time of 4:28.26...earned an eighth place finish in the one-mile run at the Houston Indoor Invitational with a time 4:29.83...Outdoor - collected eight top-10 finishes...earned a first place finish at the Border Olympics in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:59.60...ran season's best in the 800M run at the Rice Bayou Classic with a time of 1:56.68...collected a pair of ninth place finishes in the 1,500-meter run at the Texas Twilight and Rice Twilight with times of 3:58.09 and 3:59.39 respectively...earned a pair of fifth place finishes in the 1,500M run at the Texas Invitational and Houston Invitational with times of 4:00.07 and 4:02.65 respectively...finished third in the 1,500M run at the Border Olympics and marked a time of 4:03.48...collected a pair of sixth place finishes in the 1,500M run at the Texas State Open and the Javelina Invitational with times of 4:08.61 and 4:02.45.

2007 Season Cross Country - Competed in five meets cross country meets...placed sixth at the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Relays with a time of 41:48.00...finished 14th at the Texas State Invitational with a time of 27:38.11...earned a berth to the NCAA South Central Regional Championships and posted a time of 33:47.00.
