At the 21st Annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival, the University of Texas-Pan American men's cross country team finished 18th in a field of 29 this Saturday (Oct. 17) morning.
The Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival took place on the campus of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, AR.
Junior M. Angel Ramirez led the way for the Broncs as he crossed the finish line in a time of 32:21.65 for a 100th place finish. Fourteen spots behind Ramirez (114th), Omar Doria recorded a time of 32:34.77.
In 142nd place, Gilroy Martinez posted a time of 33:02.75, while freshman Frank Garcia trailed right behind Martinez as he finished in a time of 33:16.55 for a 149th place finish.
In his first meet of the season, Wally Gonzalez posted a time of 33:17.84 for a 151st place finish. Crossing the finish line in a time of 33:38.74 was Rolando Vela for a 170th place finish. Andrew Lopez was the final runner for the Broncs as he marked a time of 34:31.01 for a 203rd place finish.
Oklahoma State took the top three spots as Colby Lowe took first place in a time of 29:30.90, John Kosgei placed second in a time of 29:30.97 and Ryan Vail placed third with a time of 29:31.03.
Oklahoma State also took the team title as they place first followed by Oklahoma in second, Arkansas in third, Virginia Tech in fourth and Texas Tech in fifth.
The Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival was the last meet before the men's and women's teams head for conference in two weeks in New York, which will be hosted by NJIT.
