The University of Texas-Pan American men and women's cross country programs have been preparing for the Great West Conference Championships, scheduled for Saturday (Nov. 1), in Orem, UT hosted by Utah Valley University.
"The team will do well. They are prepared mentally and physically and I hope we bring back our first Great West Conference Championship," said head cross country coach Dennis Darling.
Both the men and women's teams have had a successful season, as far, with the men collecting two first-place finishes and a second-place finish, while the women collected a second-, third- and fifth-place finish throughout the season.
"The men are very competitive. They run well as a group and whoever is having a good day will come out on top," added Darling. "Carolina should do very well this meet and so should Diana (Galloso). She has picked it up during the season and should finish in the top."
The women's 6K race will take place first at 9:00 a.m. with the men's 8K race following right after at 10:00 a.m. The award ceremonies will conclude the festivities at 11:00 a.m.
The field for the Great West Conference Championships will include the seven schools in the conference: Chicago State, Houston Baptist, NJIT, North Dakota, South Dakota, UVU, and Texas-Pan American.
The Great West Conference Championships will take place at Lakeside Park in Orem, UT.
