2003 - 2004 - Schamel proved to be a major cog for the Lady Broncs in the post in her first season... cited as a first team All-Independent selection... ranked first on the squad in points, field goals made, field goal attempts, field goal percentage and blocked shots... was also tied for first in defensive rebounds... swatted 27 shots during the season, which was the fourth best single-season mark and landed her in eighth place in the all-time record books... blocked at least one shot in 12 games... had 12 contests during the season, scoring in double-digits... posted a season-high 20 points, hitting nine of 15 shots, against Sacramento State (Dec. 6)... nearly missed a triple-double (points-rebounds-blocked shots) versus Incarnate Word (Jan. 27), finishing with 11 points, 11 rebounds and nine blocked shots in that contest... had her first double-double of the season versus Prairie View A&M, ending with 10 points and 12 rebounds... scored 18 points versus IPFW (Feb. 19) and 17 points in the final game of the season at Northern Arizona (Mar. 3)... grabbed a season-best 12 rebounds against Sacramento State (Jan. 7)... finished with 16 points at the UTPA Fieldhouse versus Texas A&M - International and 14 points at Southeastern Louisiana (Jan. 13).
2001 - 2003 (Yavapai College) - A two-year starter for Yavapai College, Schamel averaged 14.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocked shots per game in her final season, including shooting 52 percent from the field... helped the Lady Raiders to a 20-11 record... earned second team All-Arizona Community Collegiate Athletic Conference honors as a sophomore... left the program ranked fifth in career field goal percentage and 10th in scoring... averaged 11.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.2 blocked shots for her career... garnered academic honors, earning an academic scholarship.
High School - During her final season at Watkins Glen High School, Schamel earned all-state honors... averaged 20.0 points and 18.0 rebounds per game en route to earning All-Twin Tiers and all-conference accolades... left WGHS was the program's all-time leader in scoring... named one of the top five players in the area by Ithaca Journal... was a Sweet Sixteen All-Star pick... garnered Player of the Week laurels by that publication as a senior... was a New York State Scholar-Athlete... graduated in the top 10 percent of her class.
Off the Hardwood - Schamel is the daughter of Guy and Vivian Schamel... has one sister, Marian... was born on July 27, 1983... majoring in psychology.
