FARMVILLE, VA-- The University of Texas-Pan American women's basketball program suffered a 72-62 decision to Longwood University, on Saturday afternoon (Nov 28) in the opening game of the Lancer Classic at Willett Hall, in Farmville, VA.

The first half recorded six lead changes as the Lady Broncs and Longwood traded baskets before Longwood went into the locker room with the lead, 34-29. In the second half, the Lady Broncs were unable to recover as Longwood went to win the game 72-62.

Rose Esther Jean led the Lady Broncs with 17 points on 8-12 shooting from the field. Rachel Hester scored 13 points and Aleeya Grigsby added 10 points and nine rebounds.

For Longwood, Krystal Garrison scored 17 points, while Crystal Smith added 16 points and six rebounds.

The Lady Broncs face Gardner Webb on Sunday (Nov. 29), the final day of the Lancer Classic. Tip-off is set for 12:00 p.m. CST.
