The University of Texas-Pan American women's basketball team was defeated on Saturday (Dec. 3) by the University of Houston, 63-55, in the consolation game of the Commerce Bank Wildcat Classic hosted by Kansas State University.

For the second straight game, the Lady Broncs were torched by an opposing player hitting six three-pointers. Jasmin Moore scored a game-high 24 points after connecting of 9-24 shooting, including 6-18 from behind the three-point arc. Teshay Winfrey (Houston, TX/Eisenhower H.S.) led UTPA in scoring, posting a career-high in points and rebounds, with 15 and nine respectively.

The Lady Broncs and Cougars fought for the lead throughout the first half, with eight different lead changes until Houston's Ryan Meyers hit a three-pointer to close out the first half with the Cougars leading 28-25. Houston pulled away in the second half, leading by as many as 18 points. The Lady Broncs, however, battled and closed the lead to single digits with 2:18 left to play, but Houston managed to hold off the late charge.
