Sophomore Majo Camey leads the way for the University of Texas-Pan American women's golf program as she tied for first after two rounds of play at the UTPA Golf Classic this Monday (Nov. 2) afternoon at the Los Lagos Golf Club in Edinburg, Texas.
Camey ties for first alongside Houston Baptist's Paige Gibson with an 8-over-par 152.
"The women went out with the attitude to win and play hard, but we faltered a bit. Tomorrow, the girls are going to go out with the same mindset and bring home the win; we refuse to lose on our home course," said Director of Men's and Women's Golf Ofelia Lopez.
Alongside Camey in the top-10 is Sarah Kothny with a 14-over-par 158 (79-79) for a tie for fourth, while Haley Hocott tied for seventh with a 16-over-par 160 (80-80).
Senior Rebecca De Leon didn't trail too far off as she stands in 12th for a two-round score of 165 (81-84). Ashley Estrada stands in 23rd as she tallied a score of 215.
Houston Baptist leads the UTPA Golf Classic by five strokes with a two-round score of 630 (310-320) with UTPA trailing with a two-round tally of 635 (317-318). Chicago State stands in third with a 662 (329-333) and North Dakota in fourth with a score of 692 (350-342).
The UTPA Golf Classic will wrap up tomorrow (Nov. 2) afternoon with the third round. Day two will begin with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start at the Los Lagos Golf Club.
