With the biggest tournament of the year just around the corner and the taste of a title in their mouths, the men and women's golf program have set their sights on this year's 23rd Annual PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship hosted by PGA of America at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL this Friday (May 8).
"Both teams are excited about minority and are looking to play hard like they did at conference," said Director of Men and Women's Golf Ofelia Lopez. "The girl's team wants to send Ale and Bronwyn off with two wins in a row."
The PGA Minority Collegiate Golf Championship will be a three-day event, which will feature 38 colleges and universities. The tournament will be in its 12th consecutive season at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, FL. The Minority Collegiate Golf Championship will be played on the Tom Fazio-designed Ryder and Wanamaker Courses.
The Lady Broncs will look to bounce back from last years second place finish, while senior Mariale Camey will look to capture the tournament title after placing second, one stroke behind first with a 54-hole tally of 226 (75-77-74).
The men, who placed third at last years Minority Collegiate Golf Championship, will look to capture the program's fourth title. The Broncs held back-to-back championships in 2006 and 2007 and captured the 2002 title as well.
