The University of Texas-Pan American women's golf team finished in seventh place on first day of the Fred Marx Invitational hosted by the University of Louisiana Monroe on Monday (Sept. 24).
Senior Bronwyn Sandberg (St. Albert, Alberta, Canada/Bellerose Composite) currently is tied for 19th with a two round score of (78-73) on the first day of competition.
Mission, TX native Rebecca De Leon (Mission, TX/Veterans Memorial H.S.) posted a 36 hole tally of (78-78) on the first day of the tournament en route to tying for 26th place overall while newcomer Haley Hocott finished with a tally of (79-78), tying for 34th overall at the Fred Marx Invitational.
Mariale Camey (Ciudad, Guatemala/University of New Orleans) collected a two-round score of (78-79) finishing tied for 34th overall while teammate Jennifer Marks (El Paso, TX/McLennan C.C.) posted a 36-hole score of (89-78) tying for 71st overall.
Arkansas State University holds the team lead after two rounds of competition with a team score of 608 while Jacksonville State (610), Central Arkansas (614), South Alabama (617) and Samford University (618) rounded off the top five.
The Lady Broncs will be back in action at the Fred Marx Invitational tomorrow as the final day resumes at the Bayou Desiard Country Club at 9 a.m.
