The University of Texas-Pan American women's golf team will take part in the UAB Fall Beach Blast hosted by the University of Alabama-Birmingham on Monday (Nov. 5) for their final tournament of the fall season.
"I think we are going to do really well," said head women's golf coach Ofelia Lopez. "We've been practicing a lot and working on our mental game. I've seen lots of improvement from the girls.
The Lady Broncs are coming off a seventh-place finish at the ORU Shootout held this past month. The Lady Broncs have recorded three top-10 finishes since the start of the fall season.
Leading the way for the Lady Broncs is Mariale Camey (Cuidad, Guatemala/University of New Orleans) who tied for 41st along with teammate Elizabeth Rodriguez (Kingwood, TX/Kingwood H.S.) at the ORU Shootout held October 2 while Mission native, Rebecca De Leon (Mission, TX/Veterans Memorial H.S.) posted a ninth place finish with a three-round tally of 231.
The Lady Broncs have had plenty of rest since the ORU Shootout and will look to end the fall season on a high note.
"We haven't had any competition in the past couple weeks, but the girls have continued to work hard and improve on their game. The girls are looking forward to this tournament and ready to compete," Lopez said.

The valley's golf team will begin the 54-hole tournament on Monday (Nov.5) at the Peninsula Golf Course in Gulf Shores, Ala. At 9 a.m.
