Oliver Steil begins his third season as the graduate assistant with The University of Texas-Pan American men's and women's tennis program.
A four-year member of the UTPA men's tennis program, Steil will aid second-year head men's and women's tennis coach in all on-court coaching responsibilities.
During his senior campaign, the UTPA graduate assistant posted a 4-5 record in singles' competition while collecting an overall record of 2-6 in doubles' action. When paired with former UTPA teammate Rehman Esmail, Steil recorded a 2-2 record in doubles' competition and ended the season on a high note where the duo won their final two matches of their careers.
Steil finished with a singles' record of 6-5 and ended the doubles' competition with a 6-5 record during his junior season. With teammate Gary Bianco, the Broncs' pair was victorious against the University of Texas-Arlington in Southland Conference doubles' competition. Academically, Steil was selected to the Bronc Pride 3.0 Club in both semesters and earned Dean's List Second Honors in the fall semester.
The former UTPA student-athlete saw plenty of action during his sophomore season when he posted an overall record of 13-8 in singles' competition and finished the season at 11-12 in doubles' action.
During his rookie season with the Broncs, Steil was ranked first on the team in singles' victories while posting an overall record of 19-13. He won both the singles' and doubles' competition against Lamar University at the Southland Conference Tournament. Steil finished the season with a record of 9-14 in doubles' competition while posting a 6-1 record when he was partnered with former teammate Jeremy Salvo.
Steil currently resides in Edinburg.
