After recording a win over Air Force on Friday evening, the University of Texas-Pan American women's tennis team fell 7-0 to Texas Tech at the McLeod Tennis Center this evening.

With the setback, the Lady Broncs fell to 2-1 on the season and collected a 1-1 record this weekend.

"Overall I was proud of the girls this weekend, coming from a late night game last night and picking up a win over Air Force was huge,"said men's and women's coach Rob Hubbard. "Our girls had a number of matches where we were very competitive against nationally-ranked Texas Tech this evening."

In doubles' action, Giana Oliveria and Julia Cirne-Lima dropped a 8-3 decision against Janet Durham and Kelsy Garland in the top flight while Silke Buksik and Megan Bedeau suffered a 8-0 setback against Ingrid Ballus and Samantha van der Drift in the number-two spot of the rotation.

Stephanie Willerding and Luisa Cantu fell 8-5 to Leah Roberts and Simone Templeton in the number-three lineup spot.

In singles' action, Oliveira dropped a 7-6(2), 6-0 decision to van der Drift in the number-one spot while Cirne-Lima suffered a hard fought 4-6, 7-5, 10-8 setback over Durham.

Willerding dropped a 6-0, 6-0 decision to Garland in the number-three spot in the rotation while Bedeau fell to Templeton 6-1, 6-2 in the number-four spot.

Buksik and Cantu dropped both of their matches by scores of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-4, 2-6, 11-9 in the number-five and -six spots in the lineup.

The Lady Broncs will be back in action Friday (Feb. 1) when they face-off against Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, TX with match time slated for 2 p.m.
