HUNTSVILLE, TX--The University of Texas-Pan American women's tennis program lost to Sam Houston State University, 4-2, this Saturday afternoon (Jan. 30) at the McAdams Tennis Complex in Huntsville, Texas.

In singles play, Megan Bedeau playing at the number one slot, lost to Giorgia Pozzan, 6-2, 6-3. Luisa Cantu, at number two singles defeated Sheridan Curris, 4-6, 6-0, 6-1. At the number three slot, Nina Ciric defeated Tatyana Postnikova, 6-1, 6-1. Sarah Burton lost to Nadia Dubyanska, 6-4, 7-6. Andrea Salvetova fell to Cally Woerner, 6-0, 6-2.

In doubles action, Sheridan Currie/Giorgia Pozzan (SHSU) def. Megan Bedeau/Luisa Cantu (UTPA) 8-4 at number one doubles and at number two doubles, Tatyana Postnikova/Cally Woerner (SHSU) def. Sarah Burton/Nina Ciric (UTPA) 9-8.

"In spite of not coming away with the win, I am so proud of how the girls played today. We're definitely a better team from last season and the girls have taken some huge strides even since last weekend in Dallas," said head coach Chris Taylor. " As I have said before, this is season is a learning process with the goal being to peak at the conference tournament," added Taylor.
