The University of Texas-Pan American women's tennis team will host the Texas State Lady Bobcats on Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.
"The women are excited for their first home match of the season. They've been pumped all week and the girls are finally coming into their own as a team," said head men's and women's tennis coach Chris Taylor.
"We are a completely different team since when we first started practice in January. They are playing well and we want to peak at conference."
First serve for Saturday's match is slated for 10:00 a.m. The Lady Broncs, who are 0-4 for the season, are coming off a 5-2 loss to Stephen F. Austin this past weekend. The women have not been at full force with the absence of Reetta Raty and Malin Andersen, due to injuries.
In the women's last outing, Nina Ciric and Andrea Salvetova were the only Lady Broncs to post wins in No. 3 and 5 singles, respectively. Ciric is currently on a 2-0 win streak in singles play.
The Texas State Lady Bobcats enter Saturday's match with a 1-2 mark. The Lady Bobcats opened the 2010 spring season with a 4-0 win over LA Tech. Since then, Texas State has dropped two to SMU (4-0) and Rice (7-0).
After Saturday's match, the Lady Broncs face Houston on Feb. 20 in Houston for a 12 noon match-time.
