The University of Texas-Pan American women's tennis program (2-13) picked up their second win of the season as they shut out the Lady `Jacks, 4-0, this Friday (April 3) afternoon at the Orville Cox Tennis Center.

"I'm really proud of the way the girls played today. It started off with Megan (Bedeau) and Luisa (Cantu) showing tons of energy in doubles and it carried onto singles," said interim head coach Chris Gill.

The Lady Broncs were off to a quick start as they grabbed the doubles point with wins in number-two and -three doubles. Luisa Cantu and Megan Bedeau defeated Jamie Williams and Mary Harrison 8-2 in the No. 2 spot, while the duo of Andrea Salvetova and Malin Andersen picked up an 8-6 victory over Gabriela Gadeva and Sanjana Kapur.

As the Lady Broncs carried their momentum onto singles, only three matches went complete as the women picked up wins in number-four, -six and -two singles.

Bedeau was the first to complete her match as she defeated Andreea Enica 6-0, 6-2. Reetta Raty followed with a 6-4, 6-0 victory over Mary Harrison and Luisa Cantu clinched the final win with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Sanjana Kapur.

"Everyone played well - credit to them. They've had a tough time in the last month or so and they've come really close to some good teams," said Gill.

"They've been resilient lately and we had a really good week of practice and it showed."

The Lady Broncs will next host the 2009 National Independent Tournament on April 17.
