The University of Texas-Pan American women's tennis program (5-14) split their final two matches of the season as they dropped a 4-2 decision to Chicago State and defeated Seattle 4-2 to earn a runner-up spot in the National Independent Tournament.

The Lady Broncs struggled in doubles as Chicago State took the point with wins in No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

As UTPA went into singles, Chicago State was awarded an automatic point in No. 2 singles as Luisa Cantu defaulted her match.

UTPA managed to pick up wins in No. 3 and No. 4 singles as Malin Andersen defeated Lina Tejoprayitno 6-4, 6-1. Megan Bedeau defeated Peggy Moore in a quick 6-1, 6-0 match.

In the final match of the tournament for the Lady Broncs, UTPA lost the doubles point as Seattle picked up wins in No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. Megan Bedeau and Sarah Burton picked up the only doubles win as they defeated Ariel Ohno and Whitney Cheng 8-4.

The Lady Broncs went on to notch four wins in singles as UTPA earned wins in No. 1, 2, 3 and 6 singles.

Stephanie Willerding defeated Audree Jenks 6-2, 6-2 in No. 1 singles, while Malin Andersen took a quick 6-3, 6-2 decision from Ariel Ohno. Megan Bedeau notched the third win for the Lady Broncs as she defeated Nicole Fleckenstein 6-2, 6-2. Sarah Burton secured the final win for the Lady Broncs with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over M. Petersen.

The Lady Broncs concluded the 2008-09 campaign with a 5-14 overall record and a second-place finish at the National Independent Tournament.
