The University of Texas-Pan American women's tennis team competed in day two of the 2007 Wilson/ITA Regional Championships hosted by Texas Tech University on Saturday (Oct. 20).

The Lady Broncs where led by Stephanie Willerding (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Northview Heights S.S.) who posted a (6-1, 6-3) win over Nowland advancing to the second round where she recorded a (7-5, 2-6, and 12-10) victory over Aranda in singles' action.

Luisa Cantu (Victoria, Tamps, Mexico/Colegio Jose de Escandon) recorded a (2-6, 6-1, and 11-9) win over Simpson and posted a (6-1, 6-3) triumph over Farmer. Silke Buksik (Waiblingen, Germany/Salier Gymnasium Waiblingen) dropped her match (6-7, 6-2, and 1-0) to Starratt while Megan Bedeau (Scarborough, Ontario, Canada/Northview Heights S.S.) fell to Sara Pesic of UTA (6-3, 6-1).

Giana Oliveira (Santa Anna, Brazil/Eckerd College) suffered a (6-3, 6-1) setback to Gutierrez while teammate Julia Cirne-Lima (Porto Alegre, Brazil/Eckerd College) collected a (7-6, 0-6, and 1-0) win over Hadvigerova and Sarah Burton (Oakville, Ontario, Canada/Oakville Trafalgar H.S.) was defeated by Jordan McCombs of UH (6-0, 6-0).

In doubles action teammates Cirne- Lima and Oliveira posted a 8-6 victory over Joubert and Ranganathan of UNT and Cantu and Willerding suffered a 8-2 setback to Sofnikova and Taylor of SHSU.

Bedeau and Buksik collected a 8-6 win over Kuruc and Martinez of SHSU.

The Lady Broncs will be back on the courts tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. for the main draw singles, main draw doubles, consolation singles and consolation doubles in Lubbock, TX.
